Trendy Addiction?

It seems like every few years or so, there is a new addiction that is almost, for lack of a better word, “trendy”. Recently, the trendy addiction is the “sexual addiction”.
Celebrity sex addicts such as Michael Douglas, who by the way, was one of the first to come out as an addict. There was also Scary Spice and of course who could ever forget Mr. ex-president Clinton. It’s hard to know what came first, the fame or the addiction. Is it possible some of these famous people just have these addictions because people want to sleep with them because they are famous? Would they still be as sexually active if they were just the average Joe Blow?
Billy Bob Thornton was seeing a sex therapist while married to Angelina Jolie. Unfortunately, instead of helping Billy Bob overcome his sexual addiction, he and the female sex therapist are alleged to have had a steamy affair. He should have found a male therapist.
Here are some numbers that you may find interesting. Seventy four percent of sexual addicts claim to have been physically abused. Eighty one percent of sexual addicts claim to have been sexually abused. Unbelievably, ninety seven percent of sexual addicts claim to have been emotionally abused. Psychologists believe that most, if not all addicts were deprived of physical touch, love, nurture and affirmation as children.
If you think you or someone you know has a sexual addiction, there is an online test you can take. The test is called SARA, which stands for Sexual Addiction- Risk- Assessment. In about twenty five minutes, you will be tested on whether or not your sexual habits may indicate an addiction. People with genuine addiction problems, no matter what the addiction should seek professional help as soon as possible. Let’s make sure we keep our sex lives healthy.

Levitra vs. Viagra – Is One Pill Better Than the Other?

Comments Off

Viagra was the first prescription medication for erectile dysfunction. It entered the race first; hence, it did have an advantage over its other competitors that entered the market much later, namely Levitra and Cialis. There is a debate ranging, whether Levitra works better than Viagra or not. But the answer to this question lies in your choice.

The efficacy
Both drugs have been very effective in the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). The effect of both medications last for around 4 hours in your body. Both need to be taken an hour before sex. In some cases, Levitra has been seen to act faster than Viagra.

For those who require small doses
Levitra is available in doses of 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg and 20mg; while Viagra is available in doses of 25mg, 50mg, and 100mg. At times, as a result of some health condition a doctor might want to put you on a lower dosage of an oral medication. In such cases, a lower dosage of Levitra is preferred over the comparatively higher doses of Viagra.

Safety profile
As both impotence pills are PDE5 inhibitors, the side effects remain common to both. Also, both drugs show an interaction with various medications, especially ‘nitrates’; hence, it is essential that you apprise your doctor about your intake of medications before being prescribed this medication.

At times, Levitra has worked where other prescription medications for ED have failed. But, this is an exception, rather than the norm. A body might respond to one drug and show no response to another drug. At the end of the day, it’s completely your choice. You need to work with your doctor to understand the effect and working of the various ED drugs in order to make the right choice. Your lifestyle and your health dictate the kind of medications that you go for. It’s not about which drug is better than the other, but all about which drug will work best for you.

Hair Loss in Men

The most common form is male pattern baldness or androgenic alopecia and the hair is lost in a well-defined pattern, beginning above both the temples. Hair also thins at the crown of the head and the condition may progress to complete baldness if treatments for hair loss are not employed.

Believe it or not, it is a by-product of testosterone that’s responsible, called DHT, and this simply constricts your hair follicles until the hair gets so thin it falls out completely.

Many treatments on the market today like Propecia can be effective but can also have some sexual side effects and even some testicular pain has been reported.

There are other more natural alternatives for hair loss in men that use the recently FDA approved ingredient called Minoxidil and a base of natural nutrients.

Minoxidil is applied directly to your scalp and in conjunction with extracts including Nettle Root and Saw Palmetto, can block the DHT and encourage much new growth.

Vitamin B6, magnesium, biotin and zinc will help to give you a strong nutritional foundation to keep and maintain strong and healthy hair.

This is not an overnight or a miracle cure but more of a natural and steady path to regaining your hair and helping to keep you healthy at the same time.

Look out for these special ingredients for hair loss in men to give you the best chance of success.

Male Hair Loss

Protein, vitamin deficiency, thyroid (under active and overactive), stress, medication, age and hereditary factors are responsible for male pattern baldness. These are the common reasons for hair fall. There are other causes for male pattern baldness.

Men usually experience baldness at the temples and crown. This makes them look ugly and gradually deteriorates their self confidence. DHT also known as dihydrotestosterone damages the hair follicle and makes it thinner. Few men suffer from fungal scalp infection, under active thyroid and iron deficiency which may also lead to hair problems. Understandably, male hair loss is more common because males have more androgens in their system.

Factors that lead to hair problems are:

Protein deficiency
Vitamin deficiency
Scalp infection
Over active and under active thyroid
Medication and
Stress factor

Do not panic if you are suffering from thyroid dysfunction and vitamin deficiency. These are simple to treat and if you suspect you might have one (or both) of these medical conditions you can consult the doctor. Get your hair treated in the right time.

Understand the fact that hair loss results from a complex chemical reaction when the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase converts the testosterone in the system into DHT or dihydrotestosterone. Your hair problem arises when it is exposed to such excessive DHT chemical. They eventually become so small they are unable to replace hair that is lost. The follicles are still alive, however they are no longer able to perform their task.  By reducing the amount of DHT that can affect a man’s hair follicles hair loss can be slowed or even stopped.

Doctors advise that Propecia and Rogaine help arrest hair fall and hair transplants can restore hair that was lost. Nettle root and saw palmetto are important herbs used to treat hair problems. It is proved very beneficial for hair growth and should be used in conjunction with these ingredients. Minoxidil is another important drug used to treat male hair pattern baldness.  It is also popularly known as Rogaine in the US and as Regaine outside the US. Regaine is a hair tonic used on the scalp uniformly and not just in the areas where the hair loss is occurring. In women, this drug has shown many adverse side effects such as low blood pressure, rapid heartbeat, chest pain. Such medications are available for both men and women actually, in concentrations of 5% and 2% respectively. Consider the side effects of such medications before using them. Your doctor will be the right person to help you deal with your hair problems.
